About Joe

Ten-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier and 1988 NFR Champion Heeler Rickey Green will always be remembered as one of team roping’s original gunslingers. While always a fierce competitor, his true passion lied in helping other ropers improve their skills. He shared his wisdom on his own Rickey Green’s Power Team Roping website and as a clinician and horse trainer. From his wealth of knowledge. Green’s legacy lives on in his line of bits by Classic Equine, designed for team ropers of all levels to reach their full potential.
Standard 7" Shank
Every bit in the Rickey Green Classic Equine line features a 7-inch, loose-cheek shank, giving ropers the control and balance needed for proper horse positioning and consistent loops every time. The shanks feature copper dots for a timeless look.

Rickey recommended using a firm leather curb strap or flat chain with these bits to allow the horse to feel and work off the bit rather than reacting to the feel and pressure of a biting curb chain.

Key Features:
· Shank on entire line of Rickey Green Classic Equine Roping Bits
· Loose-cheek shank for control and balance
· Copper dots add a timeless look
Mouthpiece Options
Snaffle
Rickey Green’s contoured snaffle mouthpiece is designed with your horse’s comfort in mind. The bit’s 3-inch purchase provides adequate leverage to lift your horse’s head and shoulders while maintaining collection behind. The mouthpiece targets lateral flexion, providing control of the horse’s nose. The standard 7-inch shank allows for a quicker cue and response.

Key Features:
· Comfortable design
· Leverage bit to lift horse’s head and shoulders
· Mouthpiece targets lateral flexion
· Quicker cue = quicker response
Chain
This chain mouthpiece can work for any roper. A long-time favorite, it evenly distributes pressure across your horse’s mouth, allowing for better collection and helping your horse break at the poll and lift its shoulders in preparation to stop. Its pinch-less design lies flat and evenly across the mouth and tongue, allowing for the shank to softly cue your horse when pressure is applied. The chain mouthpiece evenly distributes pressure over your horse’s tongue and bars and contours to your horse’s mouth.

Key Features:
· Pinch-less design evenly distributes pressure across the tongue and bars
· Contours to horse’s mouth
· Pressure allows for better collection
High Port
Reach for the Rickey Green High-Port Sharp Setter when you need your horse to work sharp. This mouthpiece gives you control when high speed becomes a factor in your roping by encouraging quicker rate. The high port communicates off your horse’s palate, which signals flexion at the poll and brings your horse into your hand. The palate pressure is ideal to maintain control of a horse that can get strong or more aggressive when called on.

Key Features:
· Control under pressure
· Quicker rate
· High port cues off the palate to signal flexion at the poll
High Port With Roller
Rickey Green designed this mouthpiece to help build consistency and an appropriate headset during any task. The mouthpiece rolls back when engaged, slowing contact and allowing time for collection in response to the pressure. It teaches your horse to carry the bit correctly and develops a proper headset. When you add speed, this mouthpiece provides smooth rate and helps build consistency. The bit’s roller pacifies a nervous horse and helps relax the tongue and jaw.

Key Features:
· Develops proper headset
